Beautiful Franklin's 2010 PORTRAITS FOR FOOD has raised over 5 TONS (10,449 pounds) of food for our neighbors in need. (My goal for the year was to see if I could raise 10,000 pounds.) Why do I work for food? Food is a basic human need as is the need for oxygen, water and sleep. According to Maslow, and it makes since when you think about it, all other needs become secondary until the basic needs are met. 2010 Schedule has events and amounts donated which correspond with CareNet's weigh in log-in records. And that doesn't include the food raised in 2008 and 2009 when I didn't keep records or have a goal for the year. I went from "0" cans in the "little red wagon" for my first event in 2008 to hundreds of pounds in this years events when I decided to go for it, taking and processing thousands of photographs in exchange for donations of food. You can see many of the photographs/portraits in "Other Cool Slidevideos" below. Just sit back and think about how much that really is but still is not enough! A lot of food was hauled in my old little Mazda truck which was the best part of the week knowing it was going out to help our nieghbors in need. Cash donations will be accepted and handled by a 2nd party as the pantries can buy more for the money than we can. Non-perishable food will always be accepted. As Beautiful Franklin has been a one man show for 3 years it will now humbly accept sponsors to help with equipment & supplies.

I named the site Beautiful Franklin not only because of the beauty of our town and its scenic surroundings but also after the beautiful people who live here. After a 28 year career in the Marines and a shorter career as a Special Education teacher, I have now, in my retirement years (Yea, right), turned to the hobby (Serious) of photography & Always striving to learning something new! HELP ORGANIZE A CARE EVENT: A Care Event is a photographic event when food is donated in exchange for photography services.
